THE Minister of Youth and Sport, Kazenambo Kazenambo, has called fellow ministers “stupid Owambos”, and said that Owambo people “are just like the Boers, worse because you are hungry and stupid”.
Kazenambo made the remarks during an interview with Insight magazine journalist Tileni Mongudhi about two weeks ago.
Kazenambo has confirmed that the interview took place and has refused to withdraw the “verbally abusive and insulting statements” which he made to Mongudhi.
According to the Youth Minister the statements were made in “self-defence to an attack on his person and character”.
“How I reacted is immaterial, I have rights to react if I am attacked and provoked,” Kazenambo told The Namibian.
The Minister confiscated Mongudhi’s voice recorder.
Mongudhi has laid a charge of theft against the minister yesterday afternoon.
“If the questions were provocative then that’s fine, but it is my job to ask questions that are difficult and not pleasant. I have an obligation to ask those questions, even if I don’t want to,” said Mongudhi.
According to the article, which appeared in this month’s Insight magazine, Mongudhi asked Kazenambo about perceptions that he may have been seen to have acted as more of Herero than a national representative when he was dealing with the genocide skulls issue.
According to Mongudhi, once he posed the question the Youth Minister became confrontational and abusive. Kazenambo has however charged that the question itself amounts to “serious tribal allegations”.
Kazenambo has questioned how he could have been perceived to be acting as more of a Herero than a national representative if he was acting on a Cabinet directive to travel to Germany to retrieve the genocide skulls.
However, Mongudhi says that the question related to Kazenambo’s public outburst late last year when he was asked by another local journalist about the cost of the skulls’ repatriation mission.
According to Mongudhi, he asked Kazenambo about reports that he (Kazenambo) had been reprimanded by President Hifikepunye Pohamba for bringing both Swapo and the Namibian Government into disrepute.
“He wanted the names of my sources,” Mongudhi says, “but I refused.”
Kazenambo has confirmed that he asked Mongudhi to disclose the names of his sources, reportedly Government ministers, and has denied that he has ever been reprimanded.
“Since my appointment as Deputy Minister (of Regional Government), I have never been reprimanded by the President and neither has the President threatened to fire me,” Kazenambo said.
According to Mongudhi the Minister accused him of being part of an “Owambo conspiracy,” and that he was allegedly sent as an Owambo journalist by “stupid Owambo ministers”.
Kazenambo has told The Namibian that Mongudhi “is being used by people who want to destroy my character,” and the whole thing is a dirty campaign against him.
During the interview Kazenambo confiscated the voice recorder which Mongudhi was using, and has told The Namibian that he will keep it as evidence.
“It is an instrument used to attack my person, to discredit me and bring me into disrepute. It is an enemy tool. In battle if you capture an enemy tool then you keep it,” Kazenambo said.
Kazenambo has refused to release the recorder, saying that he would only give it back if Mongudhi publicly apologised to him and “withdraws his attack”.
“Verbal assault and public outbursts are part of the day-to-day happenings in my job and [therefore I ] will not press charges for that,” Mongudhi said, adding that while he does not like Kazenambo’s public outbursts, he will continue to defend the Minister’s constitutional right to freedom of expression.
Mongudhi and the Insight photographer who accompanied him to the interview with Kazenambo were ejected from the Youth Minister’s office, but not before Mongudhi was allegedly threatened with assault by Kazenambo who said, “If I could, I would kick you, I would f@$k you up.”

KK is our own Julius Malema. Do you remember the day when Juju attacked and ejected a journalist from a media briefing simply because the journalist dared to ask an irritating question?
When KK attacked Poolman meme Pendukeni said it was "freedom of expression", but now meme Pendukeni may as well be one of the "stupid Owambo ministers" KK is talking about. Is it still "freedom of expression" meme Pendukeni?
- KK attacked the Germans = no reaction from Government supporters;
- KK attacked the Boers & journalists = no reaction from Government supporters;
- KK attacked Owambos = now we hear he has gone too far. LOL

we dont need a herero to run this country. they should demote this guy, there's enough Owabos (even if we are stupid) in this country to make vision 2030 a reality. Majority of us fought for this country, half of our population died for this country, who the hell is KK to call us stupid? when we went to fight we knew what we were fighting for, if we were so stupid we wouldnt have left this country take up arms. We dont need negative leaders in our parliament.

My response are as follows;
- KK just started (After all something has to start somewhere)
- KK some where from the starting point (He is has started walking the journey)
- KK did not stop walking and he has definitely gone far. Why wait till he has really gone very far that he become unstoppable...? He has to be stopped some how, some where.. An iI think it is that time to stop him ....>>> LoL.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, this stupid, stupid IDIOT !!
The newspaper reported a couple of days ago that the recorder used to record his verbal manifestation of stupidity, was sent bey KK "to technical experts abroad to have the interview erased".....
Now, this stupid little runt likes saying other people are stupid, but, KK, Boerseun has just one question for you:
WHAT THE FURK DO YOU THINK THE "DELETE" BUTTON IS FOR?????? A deputy Minister that needs to send a simple device a 5 year old can operate abroad to hve the "delete" button pushed......
Do you think he can count to 4?? I dont think so.

We namibians i dont know wether we are stupid or just hyporites... Racism/especially tribalism happens on a daily basis in namibia almost everytime when namibians of different tribes meet, but we do not mind this things, we just let them slide even thou we are not happy about them... i have seen it happen with me...i live in oshakati and am not oshiwambo speaking.. in more than one instance when i speak to an oshiwambo speaking person usually in English.. this people would start mumbling tribal remarks in their language... things like this....who who people. but apparently we do not get offended.. but the moment you find KK! fight back and speak his mind... its national issue... how then if KK things vambo ministers are stupid should he convey it..other than saying it out... people stop acting as if namibia is not a tribalistic country...because to begin with we are not really the same tribe in Namibia... KK said what was on his mind..it does not mean it is true..just get over it!

the platform in which he said it is what matters bully, as well as the context in which he did it and the drama he caused, he needs to start acting proffesionally and know how to respond to answers, he is a role model to many and should act to his level. if he knows wambos are stupid let him say so in parliament and table a motion on the matter rather than rantin and raving, it will just add fuel to the fire if he says this things. we all have our different culters and we have been brought up differently however we all know the weaknesses of each others tribes and we should learn to tolerate each other, and on the issue that people in the north mumble when you talk perhaps they adore the way you are and are afraid to tell you, maybe ur accent is good or maybe you speak deep english and they dont understand, to me wambos are the most tolerant and welcoming tribe in namibia, they have embraced all languages with honour and dignity of course there are fractions who might be primitive but as you know wambos learn to speak almost all namibian languages. is this not a sign of unity, to be tribalism is more common in other tribes.
