I however want to congratulate you for your contributions which continued to give more insigght on what and how to write about the national team as they went down-the-valley and Up the mountain until we qualified.
Let's keep the views coming.

Sorry Mr. Yourstruly for being late. Namibia football is something that is disappointing our nation. The coach has claimed that he want a displined squad. This lead to the firing of the most liked player Lazundara Tjikuzu. He is a player that all Namibian depend on him. Why can't we admit that he is like that. His misbehaviour is always off the field not inside. There are players like, Keane, Rooney, Viera and many more but are used by their national team coaches. We are a small nation and its like we are choosing between displine or winning. Why even the coach want Plaaties if he don't want. There are also players at Oshakati City who are winning their games and they the 2nd in league and even 2 players are nominated for the player of the year.

With the way things are going ...i have to say A big NO!...i have a couple of points regarding the matter...1 Why is the coach not choosing the players who are on form....e.g Cascas Angula have limited options up front, our best striker is suspended for the entire series...what is he doing picking 2 midfielders to play upfront Jagger and Seibeb? If its their NPL form that got to start against Zambia...then surely Angula who has been in oustandiing form the entire season more than any deserve the call....age should not be a problem because he continues to call R Nauseb plays in SA but is a regular for the Braves....i am sure he is hoping that Meraai Swaartbooi will save the day....but the boy is not a striker....he needs to play off a big target man...like he did for Blue Waters to be effective...you look around the squad he called up and you ask yourself you will perform the task and there you go...2 Dumisa Jantze has been in devestating form since he arrived from Germany....anybody who has watched Civics during the second half of the season will agree with me that Civic best player during the run in was D Jantze....and the coach wants to say to us that B Brendell is a better player on the right hand side on the Braves midfield.3 What does Tugela Tuyeni has to do do to get the recognition he so richly deserve after another fantastic season in the heart of Civics midfield....how many times has this gem of a player saved civics this season the FNB final against A Stars....i rest my case.
4.Why is the clubless A Mbaha still number for the Braves.....as if we don't have NPL keepers that can do the Job....what is the rational in that.
5.All of the sudden all our best players are turning their back on the national team....now i do not for one minute condone the unprofessional behavior of some of our players....but then again i have to Question the man management style of the Because we have never had this problem before.....by the way...who is really the coach, assistant coach and goalkepper coach...because some of us are really confused.....may be the Good Gentlemen at the NFA will care to enlighten us on the matter..Anybody?....how about the well spoken Mr B Kauta.
6.Last but not least...can somebody please sort the circus ....that be the southern stream first division...Deportivo Alaves who until this weekend were in the running for promotion but were held to a draw on saturday their chances all but vanished because the other conteders won......Only for them to loose 12-0 against Fedics UNT from Keetmashoop who are themselves challenging for promotion, the score was 0--0 at halftime, you do the maths and all this with 2 game left.
And i hope the NFA looks into the matter very seriously

My reply will be that the GRAVE warriors as called by many nowadays may make it to GHANA 2008 only with luck, not by the way they are playing now that is seriously a disgrace to any football lover to watch a GRAVE warriors match on any day now.....

why i would say that is that the players themselve do not take the game serious or there are a problem with the coaching of the team, problem # 1

secondly the GRAVE warriors do not strikers who can put the ball in the net for the team, and if they get one he should be able to score from any position of the field.... example the strike from the defender in they last match which hit the gross bar almost from halfway.....

thirdly most of the players which are in the team now are being play out of position......example collin is an attacking midfielder, but being use as a striker.....

lastly let me not be so critical on the GRAVE warriors or should i rather say the BRAVE WARRIORS, an give them the matter of the doubt and hope they would make it to GHANA 2008..........

We as Namibians must have confidence all times. The Brave Warriors are in competition and let's not forget the two outcomes of competition like soccer, if you don't win you lose. Of course it is a desire of every person to win but we should know winning and losing is the nature of the good game. For me the team has the potential to make it to Ghana, the team that played Lybia was outstanding all what is needed is emotional strength. Okay i understand the team has lost too many times but i see big improvement and competence in that team.

If Bam could see this mail i suggest his tactics are good and his players are competent however he should work on their fitness He should take them to rugby gym as it is always done in England for players physical fitness.

Namibia has a variety of talents but i am satisfied with our current team. But to be honest the Namibia defence that featured against lybia was outstanding except the left back guy. Something must be done there, bring in somebody who has skill and a bit more stronger then we will raise the Namibian frag in Ghana.

For us as fans lets get behind the team let's not be negative.

Are you aware that Tjikuzu has been clubless since March this year? How do you even consider him for the national team.

Besisdes that, half the time this guy is under the influence of alcohol. So, when does he train?

Have you ever heared all those players that you mentioned skipping training or being drunk at practice.

I've been reading all this crab and decided to look into it myself...

Keep your ideas coming in for the success of the Brave Warriors.
I salute you comrades for your criticism and free-minded ideas.
The NFA and other sports bodies now know that soccer is for the public.
Let's continue sharing ideas on the Brave Warriors, as we welcome 2008 Nations Cup.
I still owe Shorta a column.
I promised myself to give him chance to air his analysis and critique in the Informante.
So Mr Shorta, email me when u are ready with 500 words of what you think the nations should do towards Ghana 2008.
I will put it in the column and give u credit.

all i want to say is that good luck. the sky is the limit, it is just pity that they will have to perform without their own coach whom they lost prior to the Afcon. Ben Bamfuchile will always remain the king of nam soccer. but one thing i am wondering is that, why do we seem not to be satisfied by the performance of our own warriors? first we didnt support them coz we said thier perfomance was weak and would never make it to ghana, now they have just proven that, and now surprisingly we are still doubting their capabilities? whjat is wrong with us as Namibians? lets learn to say thank you! eeeeeeH? we do not pay any single cent to watch them, but still are claiming to be concerned, most of us dont even know any of the 11 players. please let the real fans speak out not just any namibian, hallow. i remain v'mboy for life.

thanks mzeks

Greetings....

To be frank...I think everything was against us from the beginning...with the passing of the coach and the appointment of the other less than 2 months to the tournament.....the money issue was to creep up again....it seems we will never learn....a lot of comparison was made between this team and the 98 team....for me there was no comparison be cause this is a very young team and had only been together for about 18 month but the 98 one hade been together for long time thus people had a little more trust in their abilities.
But in the end after it went horribly wrong in the 1st match against morocco.....we redeemed ourselves with 2 credible results, to at least walk away with our heads held high....and please let us not get carried away we did not do well but under very difficult circumstances the players and the coach fought back and fought like the Braves.
But let us learn from 98 and built on this experience....let us try and do things properly and keep petty personal issues and politics out of football....let us say enough is enough of mediocrity.....we can do, so much better.

This how I rated the players over the whole tournament.

Zico+4....He has never looked confident in a national team shirt....and it showed big time....always looks like he does not want to be there....the one thing he has on his side is age and the fact that he has a professional contract, so he can still improve...but he must be worried about his position in the team with the hugely talented Susbeb larking in the background.
Mbaha+7...Was unlucky not to start the 1st considering that it was his heroic that got us over the line in the 1st place.....he came and did exactly what Zico could not do in the 1st game...that was organizing and keeping his defender on their toes...an all round solid performance that will win him a few more friend in SA.
Pienaar+5...Captain fantastic was a big letdown, Was poor in the 1st gave, recovered in the 2nd half against Ghana....and was caught napping and beaten for pace for Guinea’s opener....he lacked the physical presence and pace to deal with nippy north and west African strikers.
Gariseb+6...When I heard that Toromba was suspended for the opening match....I had sleepless night thinking about the combination of Pienaar and Gariseb in the center of defense....Because the 2 of them lack pace big time, and it showed...and don't know if it was just me but also looked a bit unfit....but with that said he fought for the cause.
Torromba+7...I tried To Think of our defense for The 3 games with him.....and it did not look pretty...like everyone else physically he found it difficult....but he has a heart of a lion....he got stuck in and climbed all over them if that’s what it took to stop them...very much the strength of the team.
Jamu+8...it is a toss up between him and Brendell as to who was our player of the tournament...arguably one of the few shining lights of the tournament...he was all heart and passion and he had to cover in an unfamiliar position for that matter but he applied himself selflessly with some outstanding work rate.
Risser+5...Well it was just a bit too much for him.....he tried but he was completely lost.... gave the ball away too many times trying to play the long ball over the top at every opportunity....lacked the pace to keep up with play in the middle of the park...came out second best in all the battles.
Collin+6...A lot was expected from our only true meaningful professional in Europe...but it was not meant to be....he played in phase was not able to control things in the midfield....most of the time he was slow on the ball and like his midfield partner also lacked pace...I expected him to take control of thing when things started to fall apart against Morocco but everyone around him …he folded.Expected more from him.
Kaimbi+6...Mr. Shans still need to explain to us as to what was Tommy doing playing right back in the 1st game. I was lost for word to be honest but I can't fault the youngster...obviously he struggled defensively but at least he went forward even managed to whip in a few crosses....and was not afraid to get stuck in....the experience will only make him a better and stronger player.
Brendell+9...I have to be honest and say, I was one the people who would always ask why was Brendell the team ahead of players like Tugela and Gurirab....I have to admit the I was made to eat humble pie, he was outstanding in everything he did....he was always willing to make the run into space ....and his 2 goal were well taken efforts.....an all round faultless display....easily our best player at the tournament.
Jacobs+6...The hopes of the nation rested on the shoulders of this talented midfield schemer....but it was never going to be a stage were our attacking players were going to shine as it turned out....it was indeed very difficult for them to make any real impact because of the way we set out to play....when he was in possession you felt something was going to happen....but overall a disappointing tournament for Jacobs.
Bester+5....I really felt sorry for him....despite his best efforts, everything was against him…playing alone upfront against bigger and stronger defenders….he had to chased down defenders all the time in a nutshell, we never played to his strength..
Pineas+5…it was difficult to rate him because he got little game time, but he did not run at defenders when he got a chance…..definitely the experience will help his progress.
Katupose+5…It was a disappointing tournament for the youngster…..like all the forwards he suffered because of the way we played….again he can only improve and become a better player for the Braves.
Letu+5…Did not get as much game time as he would have hoped for…which surprised a lot of people….looked lively when he came on….but it was always in difficult circumstances.
Meraai+6….Like all the forwards it did not work out for him because we played counter attacking football….but there is no denying that this guy is a class act….some of the things he did although in cameos showed why there is so much there to come.
Plaaitjies+5….I have would liked to see more of him….but he was suspended for the 1st game and did not play in the last one….I liked his attitude against Ghana…he wanted to play….but was substituted when he looked one of our better players on the day.
April+3…Well what can we say about him….He was exposed during the qualifiers…and again defied all expectations to start against Morocco….the rest is history.

Overall we were not the worst team at Ghana 2008…although we were the lowest ranked…I hope we built on this…and do everything in our power to do this properly…Let us congratulate everyone concerned for showing heart, courage and resilience when it threatened to blow up in our face…but we should be careful not to heap praises on the boys…because in the end it was not a success but if anything a rude awakening that we are miles of the pace to become a success story …and we need to knuckle down and work hard…everyone…meaning that Government should stand up and take a leading role in making sure that the number one sport in this country …is supported at all level and that the money it pumps into is accounted for….the reason countries in north ,west Africa are successful is because governments are involved in the whole process from the beginning….SO LET THE HARDWORK BEGIN.

BLESSED!

Nice to have u back, Comrade
Two questions though: Which other players do u think can qualify into the squad? I am of the strong opinion that Risser and Robert Nauseb are no longer good material and wont last to 2010.

Coach Arie, seemed to be distancing himself from the team that qualified to the tournament. If you look at most yo analysis, which i also agree with, most players from the qualifying campaign were never given much room at the tournament? What do u say to that?

Thanks Brother....

Building on what we currently have at the moment……I will start with the Goalkeepers…I think you will agree with me that A Subeb is the most talented goalkeeper to emerge since R Kanalelo…..true he had an knee injury that almost ended his career but he has recovered and signed a professional contract in SA.
In defense especially at left back, I think N Geingob should have been there from the beginning…he is a player that came through the ranks from the 17’s right up to the Braves but for some reason we preferred a striker turned left back to this specialist left back, and he has a lot of experience or maybe even the former Blue Waters left back Getzen who has been a top player for past 5 seasons but has never gotten the recognition he deserves would have been an Ideal candidate for that position…..keep in mind this are mobile fullbacks that can defend and attack at the same time….which is so vital in today’s football. It’s the same on the right….G Keister was the ideal candidate, but I don’t know what happened to him at Ramblers….he is no longer the same player since he moved….I think this is were a versatile player like B Gurirab comes in…..I think if we had him in the squad he would have given us an option either in midfield or at right back….he is a coach’s dream player because you can player anywhere on the pitch and he will deliver….that is what you get from him.
I thought Tugela was unlucky to miss out I thought, even the coach expressed his admiration for him but left him in the end…opting for the young Kambonde……Which I don’t have a problem with…..because as far a I am concerned this boy has the heart, dicilpine and the skill to be the future star of Namibian football. Also because of injury we were without the very exciting H Isaacs…..his pace would have caused a few problems for the defenders…he was missed dearly. How we keep ignoring the talent of D Jantze is a mystery for me…..he was in Germany for a couple of seasons, came back lead Civics to the championship, got transferred to the SA 1st division…..and he still can’t get a look in. The only reason would be that he is not playing that much over there, I don’t know.
Because of the formation we were playing, we needed a big man to hold up play upfront….and we don’t have much options in this regard….since Botes was out injured, Costa was an option, but maybe because he was given many chances to prove himself at that level without much success, his omission did not bother many….but news from SA is that he is among the top goal scorers in the 1st division, maybe we should called him up for the training camp at least…..But again maybe Cascas Angula would have been ideal for conditions in Ghana…..we were prepared to take Nauseb with so why not Cascas….he is playing as good as ever and fitter than most of the young players in the NPL….he would have made it much easier for players like Meraai and Quinton play much better by holding up play and letting them join the attack, which we were unable to do.
Some might not agree with me but I think we missed a Ouseb or a Hummel….Ouseb was out for a very long time only time…time will tell. Yes Hummel decided to quit but he asked to comeback…..but the people involved had their reasons not to take him back…but in my opinion and since they did it with other player we should have taken him back….Because if there is a player who would have been suited for that type of atmosphere George was that type of player….I believe he would have made a difference.
As for the Coach…..it was an impossible task…..Obviously he had his own ideas and maybe some of the players did not fit in his football philosophy which is understandable….but in the end he did an ok job of it….and some of the senior players feels he deserve a chance…so I have know problems with they way he handle the whole situation ….. Except of coz for that decision regarding Kaimbi in the first game. I like that fact that he did no make excuses for playing badly in the 1st game….but rather insisting that the boys could much better than they did in the 1st game….and indeed they did go on to give much improved performances.

There question we need to be asking the NFA is when are going to start talking about starting a school of excellence…..i keep saying it saying it…..there is not short cuts to football greatness it the only way…….most of Ivory Coast player came from the Asec Mimosa academy….and that is the proof.

BLESSED

I watched Barry Rukoro talking on tv last night. It was a moving interview where he said, there is no money in the country to fund football. That cast doubt on the school of excellence issue. Barry could not even respond on the prospect of the Braves getting a friendly coz of funds issue.
I agree with yo issue of development within the team that went to Ghana and how Heini and Henrico were missed. Dumisa, really deserves a call. I will lobby for it.
But on George and Mohammed, i think COmrade u r getting back to the pre-Bamfuchile era where people did not want to see new players and were obsessed with 98 players, which was a wrong pill.
Robert, George and Mohammed , have had enough of injuries and should kiss the squad good by.
Cascas was good last season and is a shadow this season.Tell u wat? "I told Cascus to prove when he is not under the influence of drugs." is something that Ben told me and i once mentioned in passing. Cascas was advised to play clean before he could get a call. And i think, his loss of form was attributed to the fact that he wanted to come into the squad and therefore was playing his heart out, drug-free.
Now, that he sees that the door is almost closed. He will get back to the green leaf and start banging the goals, this season. Wait and c.
I agree on Costa. He is a good player just like Dumisa who should be tried. And i know by September this year, one of them will be in the team.
