why the university of namibia (unam) ranked no 60 in top 100 university in africa and the polytechnic of namibia ranked no 27? does it have to do with politics? ..according to: http://www.4icu.org/topAfrica/ text

Yaa that should be right. If you see inlight, Polytech facilities are upto standard compare to Unam. this adds value to learning techniques.....As the name reflects it "Technology" students at Poly practice what they have learned. A scenario: let me say an IT post has been advertised and two students, one from Poly and the other one from Unam have applied, Believe me that company will go for Poly products. Unam just theory and thatssssss........

lisetn let me tell you this thing of comparing unam to the technical high school of yours is just a waste of time and it will never get to an end although you are saying what you said unam is more recognized than poly and most of our students study for degrees and masters were at poly u mostly almost all you get this things called certificates and diplomas after studying and one more thing i know alot of students and friends that were at poloy most poly students only study half way and walk around town look for work and start working leaving thier studies behind mainly because town is near by and another thing they apply mostly in this banking school things which a person with a grade 12 certificate can also do. and plus one thing you wrongly answered the question that was posted the question wasnt about who will get the job between some from unam and one from poly and there wanst a question about whose facilities are the best my friend come to unam and come chheck our facilities materials you will get lost my friend we have everything here if you want to make use of them u are welcome dont just sit there and criticise our UNIVERSITY................................................

Comparisons? Just go to goole and type, 'africa university rankings'. Your results will shoe there is lots of consistency. How come most of the rankings done are different from whoever ranks? So it depends on who ranks and based on what criteria. In some instances, UNAM comes first and Poly second and vice versa. So for me, it would be better if we compared our insitition to other universities in Africa rather than comparing between two young inistitution. Who learn from who? There are muc bigger insitutions we can learn so we can improve our education rather poly and unam comparison. In the end of the day what will that help us? Lets strive to be on par with other top african univerisities, and whether you go to poly or unam when you finish, you are going to work for the country and help in the upliftment of your livehood and the country. Why can't we learn to work together atleast even for once rather than pointing fingers? If any of our institution is not up to standard, lets us stand up with one voice and point it out rather than shaming each others

If only you knew how i appreciated your opinions Qdapuka! the issue of comparison between the two is very irritating. I mean whats the main point behind it? what will we gain after we have done that now? after all, both Poly and Unam are valuable institutions that our forefathers have used and look where they are today.
Yes, i understand they have differences which is normal, but thats not important or rather we must then try to work on the differences in future rather than criticising them.
